MAINTENANCE

  • fine knits possess a natural elasticity and loft that can easily distort under improper tension or harsh washing. below is your definitive guide to preserving the softness, shape, and longevity of your investment knits.

  • pilling is a natural occurrence caused by friction on fine yarn fibers periodically remove surface pills using a cedar cashmere comb or fabric shaver, gliding gently in one direction over taut fabric.

  • never hang fine knitwear. gravity will permanently elongate the shoulders and distort the silhouette. flat folding is essential.

  • store folded knits in breathable cotton or linen storage bags. avoid vacuum-sealed plastic bags, which flatten yarn loft and trap

    moisture.

  • place natural red cedar wood blocks or lavender sachets inside drawers or storage bags to repel moths naturally. avoid synthetic mothballs, which impart chemical odors into fine wool fibers..

DRYING & RESHAPING

  • towel press: 

    • lay the wet garment flat on a clean, white cotton towel. roll the towel up with the knit inside, applying light pressure tO extract excess moisture.

  • flat air-drying: 

    • unroll and gently lay the garment flat on a drying rack away from direct sunlight and artificial heat. smooth out creases and manually block the garment back to its original dimensions. sleeves straight, hem aligned

WASHING

  • natural yarn fibers possess self-cleaning, moisture-wicking properties and rarely require frequent laundering.

  • when cleansing becomes necessary, avoid dry cleaning solvents, which can strip yarn OF natural lanolin, leaving fibers dry and scratchy over time.

  • temperature and detergent:

    • fill a clean basin with lukewarm water, never exceeding 30°C /

    • 85°F. submerge the garment with a ph-neutral wool wash or

      specialty cashmere shampoo.

  • gentle agitation: 

    • submerge the garment and gently massage the soapy water through the yarns for two to three minutes. never wring, twist, or stretch the wet knit, as yarn fibers are exceptionally delicate when wet.

  • rinse: 

    • drain the basin and press excess water out by gently pressing the garment against the basin wall. refill with cool, clean water to rinse thoroughly until clear.
