Hadid Derelictions Collection
Abstractionist by way of the Constructivists:
A Baghdad-born woman of a cosmopolitan Iraqi family: an essential first note to know about Zaha Hadid, in just how a Middle Eastern female managed to promote a radical architectural design vision, stemming from a modern society, that no longer exists. A similar story played out with the slicing and dicing vision of the Constructivists in Russia, who were subsumed and repressed eventually by the Soviet. Perhaps, Hadid’s Constructivist origin inspiration and family roots propelled her to never give in, to never permit no, permanently aware that she would otherwise be eaten by the whims of inertial, powerful male-moneyed forces ever present. She observed the corrosive societal trends that melted the air of modernity in her home country, Iraq. She, alternatively, aimed to push the boundaries of physical structural and creative possibilities, towards a futuristic spatial vision, representing a kind of geometric-based freedom from societal norms.
